Job Summary

The Wireless/Fiber Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots wireless radios and fiber optic networks. This role involves working on various structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and collaborating with team members to support network reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continually learn and update knowledge of various microwave radio systems that AT 3CIS uses (licensed, unlicensed, PTP, PTMP, other).
  • Interacting with clients, homeowners, contractors and the general public in a professional manner at all times and projecting a positive image of AT 3CIS.
  • Using industry’s best practices, perform professional installation of wireless radios on a variety of structures, such as but not limited to communication towers, houses, commercial buildings and industrial structures.
  • When required, perform troubleshooting of existing communication systems in a systematic manner.
  • Work with other technicians in a team environment with the goal of fostering success of the company through coordinated and consistent efforts.
  • Driving company vehicles, towing trailers, loading & hauling machinery & equipment, and operating equipment.
  • Undergoing training courses as designated and coordinated by AT 3CIS.
  • Perform optical fiber splicing, termination, and testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify fiber optic network issues promptly.
  • Utilize special equipment, such as fusion splicers and OTDRs, to maintain optimal network performance.
  • Install rack and Equipment such as switches, Splitter, ONT, Fiber Panel and Trays.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols during all splicing activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of splicing records and network configurations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Documentation and Labelling.
  • Keeping work sites organized and properly labeled.
  • Comfortable with low voltage DC power.
  • Familiar with general grounding practices.
  • Conduit installation for both PVC and EMT.
  • Adhering to all safety measures, including field assessment, toolbox meetings, PPE, and any other requirements by AT 3CIS, client and regulations.
  • Stay current on technical knowledge of IP networks, wireless communications, and any other industry specific requirements.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in telecommunications, wireless systems, or fiber optics is considered an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of microwave radio systems (licensed, unlicensed, PTP, PTMP).
  • Familiarity with fusion splicers and OTDRs, and other specialized network equipment.
  • Comfortable working with low voltage DC power and general grounding practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving fiber optic and network issues.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally.
